Villa Penelope is located in the sleepy village of Kambia, only 7 kms from Almirida Beach and only 5 mn drive from the local shops and taverna’s.
Set within 10000 square metres of private land, surrounded by a forest and with it’s own gorge to the front, the views of the Mediterranean sea and the Akrotiri Peninsular opposite are amazing and un interrupted.
Below Penelpe is it’s sister, Hermes whish has been set back behind olive trees for privacy.
Each house has private gardens, swimming pools and wonderful views.
Penelope is a lovely villa to enjoy a relaxing break, and is in a great location set in the peace of the countryside but close to the beaches and surrounding traditional villages for a truly authentic Cretan experience.
The villa
Villa Penelope has been completed en 2011, designed by a well known architect and built to a very high standard by a respected, local builder.
With 95 sqmtrs, it has a spacious open lounge/dining area with top quality modern fixtures and furnishings, the over sized picture windows take advantage of the stunning views over the private pool and to the sea.
Everything has been provided for you to ensure a comfortable stay : flat screen TV with satellite channels, DVD and CD player, the kitchen is fully equipped all appliances including microwave, oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, coffee maker, toaster, etc. The utility room houses the washing machine.
One stair go to a double bedroom with a king size bed and to a twin bedroom and to a bathroom with shower, sink and wc. Both bedrooms have patio doors opening to terraces looking out to the sea.
Baby cots and chairs can be provided.
There is air conditioning units and fans thought for the hot, summer months.
Enjoy outdoor living around the 34 sqmtr swimming pool, dine al fesco, cooking on the BBQ, as you wash the sun set over the Mediterranean sea.
The villa is cleaned once a week with a change of linen and towels, and we are happy to provide a welcome pack with local products.
Activities - Visits
Villa Hermes and Penelope are located on the outskirts of the small village of kambia which has the very traditional Agios Nikitas chapel, and you may also bump into the famous painter Santorinakis who lives in the village.
Further down the hill is the bigger village of Plaka with a well stocked mini market and several cafes, tavernas, and wifi access. Just 2 km further from Plaka you will come to the beach of Almirida. This small seaside village has many amenities, such as a pharmacy and cash points, and also a wind surfing centre but still remains unspoilt by mass tourism. The shallow, crystal clear waters and soft golden sandy beaches are perfect for families.
ust 5 kms from Almirida is the largest beach resort of Kalyves where you will find a bigger selection of shops, tavernas, and cafes. If you are feeling energetic there are many pretty walking trails ans ruins to visit, and the beautiful Venetian harbour and old town of Chania is just 30 kms away.
How to come ?
As you arrive from Chania (30 kms) or Heraklion airport (140 kms), you'll take the new road in the direction of Rethymno. Exit at "Kalives" and cross this small town in the direction of "Vamos". The signs "VILLA PENELOPE" will guide you.
